Can I file a diminished value claim even if my insurance company processed the collision claim?

by Kathy
(Front Royal, VA)

A driver ran a stop sign, and I hit her with my 6 week old Pontiac G6 (17K miles). She was cited for the accident.

I would like to allow my insurance company to handle all of the process for collision damage and file against the other insurance company.

If I do this, can I still file a diminished value claim against the other company once my car is fixed?

I know that I can not file a diminished value claim against my own insurance company.

Answer:

Hello Kathy,

Yes, you can file diminished value against a third party insurance company. This is a claim hard to win, but you can make it.
