Can you settle the auto damage claim now and settle the injury claim later?

by Lucille
(Okla City, Okla.)

My car was totalled by the insurance co. of the person who rear ended me. I need to settle the auto damage claim because I need the money to purchase another vehicle as I have no transportation.

I was injured in the incident and am still receiving treatment. Can I settle the auto claim without jeopardizing the injury claim?

Answer:

Hello Lucille,

You can settle the property damage without losing your rights and benefits for the injury and pain and suffering.

Most insurance companies MUST do this because your injury claim can take a very long time (2 to 3 years or even longer) depending on your situation.
