I am getting ready to switch insurances, but I do have a claim

I am getting ready to switch insurances because mine lapses in a couple weeks. There was an accident reported on my vehicle for May that I am just finding out about.

Will the insurance carrier during that time cover it if I was covered at the time of the accident??

Insurance companies will make a coverage investigation to ensure that the accident happened during the period the policy was active.
