Non listed driver injures passenger | coverage for medical bills

by Bill

If a passenger in a vehicle that is insured, and the driver is not a listed driver on the policy will passengers in the car be covered for medical expenses in case of an accident, even if the passengers do not have their own auto insurance?

Answer:

Hi Bill,

Most likely yes. If the policy does not exclude the driver (specifically) and the driver has permission to drive, it is very possible that there is coverage (hard to say without reading the policy).

There is also a possibility that the passenger would be cover even if the driver was specifically excluded, but again, need to read the policy careful.

Short hand: Most likely yes.
