Rental car for claimant | What to do here?

(Colorado)

I am a claimant on an auto accident claim, they have assumed liability and paid me for the damages.

Now the insurance company is saying that they do not have to put me in a rental car similar to the one I drive. Is that true can they put me in whatever rental car they want, no matter how small? I live in Colorado.

Answer:

Hello,

Well, it depends on what Colorado law says. States differ on this, some states call for "basic transportation" and other for "similar transportation."

Contact the Department of Insurance for Colorado and ask for the claim department or someone to talk about this issue. They will be able to give you an specific answer.
