If a rock falls off of a truck and cracks my windshield, is the truck driver responsible to pay for the damage? I'm in CA.

Well, the truck probably has a "road hazard" defense. This defense states that each driver assumes the risk of "being on the road" and the damage ensuing from such risk is barred from recovery.

If however the truck was supposed to have a cover or a tarp because they have a load, and a rock came lose from the load, then they would not have the road hazard defense.
