Stolen vechicle | Driver with no license, coverage?

by Susan
(Greensboro, NC)

My car was stolen while my friend was driving. I was not aware of my friend driver license revoke. Will the insurance pay for any repairs for my car?

A police report was filed.

Answer:

Hello Susan,

Well, most likely yes. The car as "car jacked." Why was your friend driving while the car was getting stolen. Usually, the car is parked and therefore is not being "driven" at the time. These difference may make a huge difference in your coverage on how the policy language applies.

You may or may not have an exclusion regarding driver's without licenses. If you don’t' and you carry the proper coverage (i.e., comprehensive coverage), you should be okay.
