Total Loss Negotiation with Insurance Company

by Linda
(Atlanta Georgia)

My 2000 Volvo SE has been determined a total loss and the amount they are giving me is pathetic. How do I negotiate?

Linda

Answer:

As noted in our site, you need to dispute the value based in the comps that the insurance company is pulling. Most of the time the have a CCC value. other times they have other evaluations.

In either case, you need to be able to see what they are looking at. They will try to pull comps from other states, other cities, lower quality cars, etc. The only way to really negotiate is to make sure those reports are accurate and fair. Good Luck.
