Who is covered in this accident?

I was at fault in an accident but the other driver did not have any kind of instance. I carry liability only. Who would be covered in this accident?

Answer:

Hello,

Coverage and fault are two different things. You are at fault and your policy covers your liability, meaning, that the damages you caused to the other driver will be paid for.

The damages to your car would not. You will have to pay for those out of pocket.

The fact that the other driver does not have insurance will not make a difference unless your state has statute which bars recovery from those who are not insured (i.e., California).
