Who is responsible? | Object on the road

by Pat
(Belmont ,NH)

My vehicle was damaged when I hit a Basketball net that fell into the road. It had been set up next to the roadway by a neighbor.

No ballast was placed in the base and it may have blown into the roadway.

I have comprehensive coverage only on the vehicle what do I do now?

Answer:

Hello Pat,

This appears to be a collision claim. Please see:

Collision and compare to
Comprehensive

If this is the case (you have to read your auto policy and what it says exactly), you will have to go against the property owner/ tenant who left the basketball there. Their homeowners or renters insurance might cover your damages.

I hope this helps
