Will my insurance go up if a passenger injured himself and files a claim?

by Chris

I was dropping off my friend and as I was slowing down, he opened the door and got out while the car was still rolling.

The back tire ran over his heel and he went to the hospital and they made him file a claim.

Now he wants my insurance information but i had no control over him since he was in the back seat.

Hello Chris,

It does not matter. Your insurance policy most likely insures the passengers under the Personal Injury Protection portion of the policy (if you carry that coverage). PIP is not a “fault” coverage, therefore, your policy will provide the coverage and underwriting will have to take the claim into account.
