Personal Injury Claim

Wthdrawing a claim

by Thurman

If someone wishes to withdraw a claim after it has been reported can they do so

Answer:

Well, not really.

You can call your insurance company and tell them that you will be taking care of your own damages and no longer want to make a claim. They will let you. However, the fact that you reported the claim will continue in their system.

This means that this will be in the claim history of your file, regardless of whether they paid or not.

Remember that insurance companies use all information available to them when looking at risk and premium. They now know that you had an accident, this makes you more of a risk (regardless of whether they paid or not).

Again, you can withdraw but they have knowledge that they will likely use against you in one way or another.

Good Luck,
