Can you claim same medical bill with 2 different insurance companies through PIP

by Danny
(Austin, TX)

I have accumulated some medical bills. I have been told I can file for payment regarding these bills to at fault insurance company as well as my own through the PIP coverage.

Answer:

My understanding is that you can collect medical bills only once. Your own auto insurance pays for your medical bills for you. When you settle for pay and suffering, the at fault party will pay back the medical bills portion to your carrier making you whole.

Montana and Arizona allow double recovery, but was are not sure about Texas, please contact an attorney in your area or contact the office of the insurance commissioner.
