Does my friend who was driving need to be involved?

by Rob

My friend was driving my car and backed into a parked car.

There is a considerable amount of damage to the vehicle that was parked. I'm trying to keep my insurance company out of this, but if the cost to repair is a large amount, I'll need to go through my insurance company, but I don’t want to involve my friend who was driving my car at the time.

Answer to Does my friend who was driving need to be involved?

Yes. The driver of the car who caused damage in this case is liable for the damages he caused to the other vehicle. Thus, your insurance company must protect him under the liability coverage (subject to coverage, and a coverage investigation).

In addition, you want to put everything on the table for the insurance company.

Good Luck,
