Hit and run can it be reported a year later?

Hit and run accident, that I believe was my fault, but other driver I believe panicked & left happened a year ago.

Didn't report it at the time in fear of husband, but a week later, car was impounded for a year for other reasons, been paying for car & insurance the whole time, do I need to file a police report before I can claim the vehicle to the insurance?

Well, can you make a claim. Yeah. Will they cover? Probably not. A coverage investigation will have to be done. There are a lot of issues here. The time frame, the fact that the car is not in your possession and control, and other issues.

You have a duty to report losses within a reasonable time
