My 18 yr. old son isn't covered on insurance and hit an insured motorist how's at fault?

by Janell James
(Minder,La)

Son was driving friend home, met an oncoming car not over far enough.

He hit the rear bumper, but claims he wasn't at fault.

He's not cover on my insurance. No police report was filed.

Answer:

Hello Janell,

I am sorry to hear about your son. He is likely at fault, if not 100%, at least partially.

Depending on how much he is at fault, he may have to pay for damages out of pocket. If he is under 18 years old, you may have to pay for him.

If the other driver has insurance, they may file a claim and you (or your son) will have to deal with the insurance company directly.
