Rear ended by an uninsured motorist | Storage fees

by Hubert
(San Diego CA)

I got rear ended las nov 5 and dropped my car in the shop the next day. reported to my insurance on sat and told me my adjuster will contact me on mon nov. 7 but then again the adjuster that will inspect the car will go to the shop on nov 15. Am i gonna pay for storage fee in the shop if ever?

Thank you

Answer:

Storage fees that are part and related to the accident are covered. However, if the storage fees are not part or related to the accident OR you can avoid such fees, the insurance company can argue that you have a duty to mitigate damages and thus you have to pay or them.

Contact the insurance company or send them a letter! Document the fact that you cannot pay for storage fees and they must move faster to get this resolve without spending a lot on storage.

As always, it is very important that you talk with a local attorney!
