Stolen Motorcycle question

by Mike
(Alabama)

Recently, my sport bike was stolen. The insurance company was great and compensated me. However, my bike was found about a month after it was stolen. It's missing some parts, but other than that it's in good condition.

Am I obligated to pay the insurance company back?

Answer:

No, the bike belongs to the insurance company. They have subrogation of rights, please see:

They can do with the bike as they want. If you want it back, then it would be like a purchase back from them.

As always, it is very important that you talk with a local attorney!
